With the first annual SEE event complete, I want to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors, and participants for making it a overwhelming success. The ideas and organizations that came out and shared their social innovations were simply inspirational. With over 100 people in attendance on March 4th, the event saw over $2,600 and 200 hours of time were dispersed to these organizations and ideas through the poker-chip exchange. Congratulations to Mike Prosserman at UNITY Charity and Lindsay Seegmiller's initiative, Eat to Feed Liberans, for winning Laurier CMA's Centre for Business & Sustainability's pitch competitions for the organization and idea respectively that took the $300 prize. For information about the pitches, see the list of the videos and contact information below. To watch the introduction video featuring local entrepreneurs and community leaders, click here.

Social Entrepreneurship Exchange [soh-shuhl, ahn-truh-pruh-nur-ship, iks-cheynj] Event
On March 4th 2010 at the Children's Museum, the Waterloo Region community is going to come together around Innovation, but this time for ideas and organizations focused on supporting a social or environmental injustice. This isn't another networking event, but a celebration of the amazing initiatives and ideas that are coming out of this area. This event allows everyone to get involved and support Social Innovation. With a neat poker chip exchange format for the event, everyone can play a part in supporting Social Innovation; with your 2-$10 chips or your volunteer time chips. While you discover social innovation, there will be musical innovation showcased throughout the night as well as innovative cuisine created specifically for this event. If you know of people or organizations doing great work, pass this along. If you know of innovative talent, tell them to contact us. Registration is now open, we hope to see you on the 4th.
