Program Successes:

Since 2004, Students Offering Support has allowed university students to make positive change in those residing in their local and global community, helping develop them into more globally aware citizens. So far, we have:

  •   Raised $240,000 for sustainable development projects in countries around Africa and Latin America.
  •   Helped more than 400 children gain sustainable access to a quality education.
  •   Tutored more than 5,000 university students, helping them prepare for upcoming exams.
  •   Engaged over 500 students as volunteers with Students Offering Support on a chapter or national level.

"Through collaborating with Greg Overholt and his group of volunteers from SOS, ProBelize Service Corps was able to accomplish the largest-scale project in our history. The fundraising efforts of SOS far-exceeded our expectations, and allowed our organization to deliver a quality project to a small Belizean community in need. I have great respect for SOS and hope that they continue to grow and offer assistance to communities in need around the globe."

Awards and Recognition:

The Students Offering Support model has been fortunate to have been recognized with the following awards:

"I am impressed with the elegance of the concept. By delivering value across previously unconnected activities, Students Offering Support has mobilized student energy and converted it to valuable assets in the developing world. The fuel is students' learning requirements which is non-polluting and sustainable! Great lateral thinking and well deserving of a top position in the competition."

Since 2005, SOS has attracted the attention of various local and national publications. As we continue to grow, we are always looking for champions in the media to help spread the who, the how, and most importantly, the why. Child poverty is a global epidemic which needs all the attention and focused efforts we can provide. The organziation is over 200 student leaders strong and still growing, but we are always looking to find others who are interested in getting involved. Find out how you can help spread the word.
