We have assembled a diverse and highly experienced board of directors to help us achieve our mandate. Their assistance with critical strategic, financial, legal, and academic advice has proven invaluable as Students Offering Support grows and matures.

Laura Allan. Professor | Wilfrid Laurier University

Laura Allan is an Assistant Professor at the School of Business & Economics. Laura was a lecturer at the School Business & Economics from 1984 to 1991 and since 1997 teaching first year business courses. From 1991 to 1997 she was involved in the real estate industry as a part owner and managing director of one of the top volume per agent ReMax franchises in the Kitchener-Waterloo Area. In addition to her teaching, Prof. Allan has acted as academic editor, written chapters, and been co-author on three different introduction to Canadian business textbooks.

Susan Antonacci. Editor-In-Chief | Canadian Living

Susan has been working in publishing for more than 25 years and has spent half of that time with Canadian Living magazine. Prior to becoming Editor-In-Chief at Canadian Living, she held the position of Managing Editor for seven years. Susan is married with two children. She is actively involved in volunteering and is currently a board member on the Breakfast for Learning Foundation, S0S, and works with Free the Children. Susan also works to promote the importance of the arts and learning assistance in school curriculums for all students from grade school to university level.

Andre Boysen. Founder| 724 Solutions

Andre Boysen has over 15 years of senior level experience delivering leading edge solutions to the financial industry, 10 years of experience providing strategic advice to companies, and has been working in venture capital for the past 5 years.

He holds a BA Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa, an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and a BSc in Mathematics Education from the University of Maine Presque Isle.

In 1999, in recognition for his vision, leadership and accomplishments, Andre was named one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40.

Steve Farlow. Director | Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship, Wilfrid Laurier University

Steve Farlow joined the School of Business & Economics in 2002 as the first Executive Director of the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship. Prior to joining Laurier, Steve ran his own business, Superior Safety, for 12 years. Based in Waterloo, the company distributed occupational health and safety products from branches across Canada. Sales grew to over $25 million and he sold the company in 2002. Early in his career he worked for divisions of Rio Tinto Zinc Corporation and later, Derlan Industries.

Steve is an investor and advisor to a number of early stage companies. In addition to Students Offering Support, he currently serves on the boards of Communitech Technology Association, Canadian Youth Business Foundation, Lutherwood, and Michelin Development (Canada) Inc.

Rahul Raj. Founder | Meal Exchange

Rahul Raj is an acclaimed social entrepreneur and marketer that excels at both strategic thinking as well as hands-on tactical execution. He is the founder of Meal Exchange, an organization that enables student solutions to Canada's hunger problem and is regarded by TIME Magazine as one of Canada's leading social entrepreneurs.

In addition, Rahul pursued a successful career through various management positions at Procter & Gamble, Ferrero, and most recently, in-sync, a leading brand strategy consulting firm. His track record of success and innovation resulted in his promotion to Director, in-sync's youngest ever.

Paul Vice. VP Business Development | fOTOGLIP Inc.

Paul Vice, 27 year old entrepreneur, stock trader, and avid adventure seeker. He holds a bachelors degree in Business from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Masters in Business Entrepreneurship and Technology from the University of Waterloo. He has worked for several funding groups including The Ontario Centres of Excellence where he co-managed an IT investment fund. Now Paul works as the VP of sales for a Toronto technology firm called Digisphere Technologies.

Since 2005, SOS has attracted the attention of various local and national publications. As we continue to grow, we are always looking for champions in the media to help spread the who, the how, and most importantly, the why. Child poverty is a global epidemic which needs all the attention and focused efforts we can provide. The organziation is over 200 student leaders strong and still growing, but we are always looking to find others who are interested in getting involved. Find out how you can help spread the word.
