The focus of our charitable projects are revolved around providing children with access to an adequate education. This mandate is carried out on a community-by-community basis.

Each SOS chapter is required to work with a Latin American focused NGO. Together, they find a community in need of an educational project, and help devise a project that is requested by the community which fits within the budget. Our projects are tailored to the individual needs and requirements of the chosen community, with the overall mission of helping their children get into the classroom, improve their chances of being educated and maximize their chances of breaking the cycle of poverty.

To date, Students Offering Support has worked with 7 NGO’s (Free The Children, ProWorld, Experience Mission, Friends of Honduran Children, Awaiting Angels, Youth Challenge International, Feed the Children) to facilitate the educational development projects that we have created with communities in Kenya, Jamaica, Belize, Honduras, Peru, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.

Each year, the SOS chapter also organizes and coordinates a volunteer outreach trip to help the local community build the project. These outreach trips run 2-3 weeks long and are an amazing opportunity for SOS volunteers and other students to see first-hand the impact that they can have on the lives of those less fortunate. The cost of the trip (flight, room/board, food, etc) is paid for by the volunteers, to ensure that the money raised is used effectively on the chosen project.

"Through collaborating with SOS, ProBelize Service Corps was able to accomplish the largest-scale project in our history. The fundraising efforts of SOS far-exceeded our expectations, and allowed our organization to deliver a quality project to a small Belizean community in need. I have great respect for SOS and hope that they continue to grow and offer assistance to communities in need around the globe."

Since 2005, SOS has attracted the attention of various local and national publications. As we continue to grow, we are always looking for champions in the media to help spread the who, the how, and most importantly, the why. Child poverty is a global epidemic which needs all the attention and focused efforts we can provide. The organziation is over 200 student leaders strong and still growing, but we are always looking to find others who are interested in getting involved. Find out how you can help spread the word.
